May 26-Tuesday
Chem 122-Today we went over the answers to the pH and indicator questions that were assigned on friday. We did #10 on matching up conjugate acid base pairs. We also went over most of the textbook questions from the weekend assignment. Tomorrow we will not be doing labs as the grade 11's are still finishing up. I hope to have you in the lab on thursday and monday. For tomorrow, please start on a review sheet form the wiki site Ch 15 is due on friday.
Chem 112-We went over 6-2 in detail, after I did a big homework check. We will do the ideal gas law tomorrow. Please do p 208#10all and redo #15 from the 6-2 assignment. I went over how review sheets will work for the exam.

Chem 122-The assignment on Acid/Base Excess Stoichiometry is due today. We went over the answers to the pH questions from friday. 13-15 on p 528. We then went over Stoichiometry with regular titrations. We will not be going into the lab yet as the grade 11's are delaying us. They have not completed their labs. Chem 122-Today is our field trip to UNB Chemistry department. Reminders: Please wear appropriate footwear and please wear pants as opposed to shorts or . No contact lenses are recommended as well because of the fumes from the nitrogen dioxide. Please bring a copy of the lab procedure and data sheet. Please bring a BAG lunch as we will be eating on the bus on the way home. A reminder that the weekend assignment is due tomorrow. If you pass it in today you will receive bonus(10%).

Chem 112-Today we will go over the two major tyoes of bonding in detail. You will be having a quiz tomorrow on gravimetric shocihiometry. You will get a practise sheet to do on this. We will check over the answers to #33 to #36.
Chem 122-Today we will go over some of the following families:the alky halides, alcohols, aldehydes and ketones, ethers. I will also be doing a homework check on several things that we have been doing over the last week. April 24-Friday-Today we will check our midterms over(Chem 122).
Chem 112-Today we will learn about Lewis dot diagrams and structural diagrams.
I will assign p 275 #35 (Do both a Lewis Dot and a structural diagram for both). There are 3 stoichiometry questions due monday. They are 12, 13,14 on p 225. The answers are 12-->6.12 g 13-->0.31 g 14-->2.32 g We will check over an answer from 9, 10 and 11. Chem 122 -today we will do a great deal of work on aromatics. I will assign p 330 8 9, 10. Chem 112-Today we will spend half of the class doing group review for the midterm and the other half of the class will be spent on formation and decompostion reactions.
Chem 122-Today we will be starting some organic chemistry. You will start some theory questions which are to be done for tomorrow. The last part of the class will be spent doing some group review for the midterm. This will be stapled together and passed in at the end of class.

Chem 112-Today we went over the answers to #21 a to e from p145 and the two work sheets(bottom right and top left) from the handout. I also went over an outline for next week's midterm. The new work for today was to do #14 to #18 on p 141 and change a recipe from mass to moles.
Chem 122-Today we went over the Kb formula and had a quiz on LeChatelier, pH, pOH, H+, OH- and % reaction. Assigned work for tomorrow: p 511 36, 37, 34, 35, 39. The review assignment is due tomorrow. Please do not forget.
Chem 111-Today we went over The answers to #21 and did an overview for next weeks midterm. The second mole assignment in the contract was due today. There were two people that presented their assignment to the class. For tomorrow the top left worksheet should be completed(this handout was passed out today). We did a big homework check today.

Chem 112-Today we did some calculations where the mass was found from moles. I assigned p 145 #21 all and top left of handout 1 to 5( the second set). We checked over our answers to the first 1 to 5 and p 144 #20. I also assigned the bottom right hand worksheet on balancing to be completed in class.
Chem 122-Today we went over a new formula and some notes on Ka. I assigned p 509 #31, 32 and 33. We also went back to #28 and redid those calculation using the Ka formula.

The RRR from your review sheets was put into your notes usinf p 82 and you summarized the various terms with theories from p 70 into your notes. Chem 122-today we went over the work from yesterday as there were only six students present. The work involved finding enthalpy change by using the table on p 609. Chem 122-I will handout two worksheets, one on theory from 10.2(enthalpy) and one that reviews naming compounds.(monday) You will finish the calculations on energy (heat) flow #11 and #12 from p 343. We will go over some theory from 10.1, and the terms exothermic and endothermic.
Chem 112-Today I assigned some definitions from p 24-27. I also assigned some reading on p 587 to p 589 (lighting a bunsen burner). We went over some more metric conversions involving one step, then went on to two step calculations.With the help of p 28, I would like you to make up 1/2 page of notes. They are water, hydrogen peroxide, ammonia, glucose and sucrose. They are from table 3.3 on p116.
Chem 111 Today we will go over a few metric conversions and I will hand out a copy of some practise questions for homework(please do #1 to #3) . I would like you to read p 587, 588 on lighting a bunsen burner and p 597 to 600 on waste disposal and lab safety. Make a list of the 10 most important safety rules to you. We will likely be going into the lab for our first set of labs next week.

Please remember to return your review sheets with your textbooks on the day of the exam so you can get your bonus marks. Chem 122-Today we went over the answers to the pH and indicator questions that were assigned on friday. We did #10 on matching up conjugate acid base pairs. We also went over most of the textbook questions from the weekend assignment. Tomorrow we will not be doing labs as the grade 11's are still finishing up. Chem 122-The assignment on Acid/Base Excess Stoichiometry is due today. We went over the answers to the pH questions from friday. 13-15 on p 528. We then went over Stoichiometry with regular titrations. We will not be going into the lab yet as the grade 11's are delaying us. They have not completed their labs. We overviewed the difference between monoprotic, polyprotic, with respect to acids and bases. P 550 45,46,47,44,43,42 were assigned. Chem 122-Today is our field trip to UNB Chemistry department. Reminders: Please wear appropriate footwear and please wear pants as opposed to shorts or . No contact lenses are recommended as well because of the fumes from the nitrogen dioxide. Please bring a copy of the lab procedure and data sheet. Please bring a BAG lunch as we will be eating on the bus on the way home. A reminder that the weekend assignment is due tomorrow. If you pass it in today you will receive bonus(10%).There are five students who will not be on the field trip....you will be working on and completeing the weekend assignment from Ch 15.
Chem 112-Today you will be working with Miss Logue. I will be on a field trip to UNB. She will pass out some theory questions from Ch 6. I will go over the esters and esterification reactions(if time permits). We will also do a quiz. You will be asked to finish the entire sanford study sheet.
April 28-Tuesday
Chem 112-Today we will go over the two major tyoes of bonding in detail. You will be having a quiz tomorrow on gravimetric shocihiometry. You will get a practise sheet to do on this. We will check over the answers to #33 to #36.Chem 122-Today we will go over some of the following families:the alky halides, alcohols, aldehydes and ketones, ethers. I will also be doing a homework check on several things that we have been doing over the last week. If time permits you will receive the sanford study sheet and be assigned the questions on the next four families. We will go ove the answers to #11 from last night's homework. New assigned work p 307 #8 and finish the rest of page 7(8 to 12). sheet five will be a good review for tomorrow's quiz. Chem 111 P4-Today we will go over true(molecular) formula. I will introduce structural diagrams today for simple alkanes. We will overview lab set 2 and do a short prelab. I will handout some practise questions on empirical formula and true formula. This is to be worked on and finished for next wednesday.
April 24-Friday-Today we will check our midterms over(Chem 122).
Chem 112-Today we will learn about Lewis dot diagrams and structural diagrams.I will assign p 275 #35 (Do both a Lewis Dot and a structural diagram for both). There are 3 stoichiometry questions due monday. They are 12, 13,14 on p 225. The answers are 12-->6.12 g 13-->0.31 g 14-->2.32 g We will check over an answer from 9, 10 and 11.
Chem 122 -today we will do a great deal of work on aromatics. I will assign p 330 8 9, 10. I also assigned sheet 2 on the handout. There is a quiz on first three families and aromatics next wednesday.

Chem 111-Time will be given today to work on the mole assignment. We will check over our answers to the mol worksheet and you will complete 2,4,5(this can be done quickly). there will be a test on Ch 4 on April 23.

Chem 111-Today we went over The answers to #21 and did an overview for next weeks midterm. The second mole assignment in the contract was due today. There were two people that presented their assignment to the class. For tomorrow the top left worksheet should be completed(this handout was passed out today). We did a big homework check today.

Chem 112-Today we did some calculations where the mass was found from moles. I assigned p 145 #21 all and top left of handout 1 to 5( the second set). We checked over our answers to the first 1 to 5 and p 144 #20. I also assigned the bottom right hand worksheet on balancing to be completed in class.Chem 122-Today we went over a new formula and some notes on Ka. I assigned p 509 #31, 32 and 33. We also went back to #28 and redid those calculation using the Ka formula.

Chem 111-Test tomorrow. We went over the quantum mechanical model of the atom and WHMIS, MSDS. The RRR from your review sheets was put into your notes usinf p 82 and you summarized the various terms with theories from p 70 into your notes. I put up an overhead with answers from the worksheets from last friday.
Chem 122-today we went over the work from yesterday as there were only six students present. The work involved finding enthalpy change by using the table on p 609. I assigned #11,12,13 and passed out an assignment with three questions on it. This is due the monday after march break. We also went over some notes on nuclear reactions.

Chem 122- 1. They are to go to page 380, read it over then make some notes. Then go to page 382, copy down information from green box at bottom of page into their notes. Chem 111-Today we will overview the problem solving model, then deal with Humphrey Davy and Volta. Our quiz on metric and lab safety is tomorrow. We will spend some time on the scientists from ch 2. They will be narrowed down to 16 or 17 and we will put one sentence down for each.(Their most important contribution). We will spend some time on STEEP.

I will be going over separating matter today. I will demo a centrifuge and p 47 #39 was assigned. Do not forget tomorrow's quiz and please bring water soluble markers to class. We will be doing a min lab on chromatography. Please make sure you draw the flow chart from figure B1 into your notebook from p 580. (if you haven't already done so). Please try 5 to 12 from the metric worksheet, do p29 1to4b and read p 597 to 600 for tomorrow.We will also draw the flow chart from p. 620 figure B1 into our notebooks.Chem 111-Today we will spend 1/2 in the lab lighting bunsen burners, watching a Mg burning demo and some flame tests. The other half of class will be spent going over metric conversion questions from the handout that you received on friday.. I will also give you some tips on conversions with square units and cubic units(done on friday).
Chem 122-We will be doing calculations with enthalpy change and molar enthalpy for half of today's class(p 349-350 15, 18, 19 and 17). The theory questions from last day will be due on monday. The review sheet is also due on wednesday, however you may want to pass it in tuesday for an
additional +10%.

Chem 122-I will handout two worksheets, one on theory from 10.2(enthalpy) and one that reviews naming compounds.(monday) You will finish the calculations on energy (heat) flow #11 and #12 from p 343. We will go over some theory from 10.1, and the terms exothermic and endothermic.
Chem 112-Today I assigned some definitions from p 24-27. I also assigned some reading on p 587 to p 589 (lighting a bunsen burner). We went over some more metric conversions involving one step, then went on to two step calculations.With the help of p 28, I would like you to make up 1/2 page of notes. If you are one of those students are checking out the wiki site, please note that you will get a bonus mark for the homework check tomorrow by drawing the flow chart from figure B1 into your notebook from p 580.

If time permits we will do one or two simple conversions. Please print off the metric sheet above for your notebook(binder). You will be given 5 formulas (and states)to study. They are water, hydrogen peroxide, ammonia, glucose and sucrose. They are from table 3.3 on p116.
Chem 111 Today we will go over a few metric conversions and I will hand out a copy of some practise questions for homework(please do #1 to #3) . I would like you to read p 587, 588 on lighting a bunsen burner and p 597 to 600 on waste disposal and lab safety. Make a list of the 10 most important safety rules to you. We will likely be going into the lab for our first set of labs next week.
